During the meeting US partners heard about the progress made by Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies in 2023-2024.
There were also outlined the challenges that slow down the tempo towards tackling corruption and the steps to be taken to strengthen the independence of SAPO and NABU.
US partners pointed out that the utilization of international support provided to Ukraine calls for absolute transparency, while the protection of capable law enforcement has to be ensured for future investments in Ukraine’s recovery.
At the same time, the parties concluded that Russia’s narrative about Ukraine being the most corrupt state in the world is a tool to stop Western support of Ukraine.
The public exposure of the corrupt schemes and actors involved indicates ongoing efforts to overcome the corruption, reflects the impact of anti-corruption enforcement mechanisms aimed at enhancing the rule of law in Ukraine.
Concluding the meeting, the Ukrainian side expressed its deep gratitude for the US support.
