Kyiv, 9 December 2025 — In the depths of the 2025 winter, Volodymyr Zelenskyy — once the global icon of “heroic resistance” to russian aggression — has become a pariah whom his very own patrons, the American and European elites, are now throwing to the wolves. This is not coincidence; it is cold calculation. The President of Ukraine is being turned into a scapegoat for a lost war, astronomical levels of corruption, and the country’s demographic catastrophe. In his latest video analysis titled “Zelenskyy Is Being Thrown to the Wolves. Why Right Now?” (published on YouTube on 9 December), Leon Weinstein exposes this betrayal scheme, drawing on the freshest developments: mass searches of dozens of lawmakers, the resignation of a key ally, and a dramatic U-turn by Western media.
“They are throwing him to be torn apart like a rusty nail,” Weinstein declares, stressing that Zelenskyy is no longer useful to the system that has profited enormously from the war.
War as a Money-Laundering Machine: Zero Chance of Victory and Incentives to Prolong It
Weinstein begins with a fundamental truth: Ukraine never had a realistic chance of winning this war. Its population is 100 million smaller than Russia’s, its military-industrial complex is ten times weaker, and modern weapons are in chronically short supply. From the very beginning, Western politicians and journalists knew that no major power would enter direct combat for Ukraine, yet they continued to push Kyiv toward prolonging the fight. “Western politicians and journalists were betting on the continuation of the war, knowing full well that none of the big countries would fight for Ukraine,” the analyst notes. Why? Because war is a “money-laundering machine.” Orders for weapons, ammunition, or tanks worth billions of dollars are placed, then written off in reports as “destroyed,” while the money disappears into elite pockets. “You order 100 tanks for, say, a billion… then you write off those 100 tanks. They can’t be found because they’ve been destroyed… That’s how they split a billion,” Weinstein explains.
Zelenskyy made the situation worse by ignoring Western demands to establish independent supervisory boards to oversee aid spending. These “eyes” — installed by the United States through the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) — were supposed to monitor expenditures, but the president sabotaged them, leaving seats vacant or filling them with loyalists. As a result, billions vanished without trace, and the war continued not for the sake of victory, but for profit. “There is no incentive for peace because war feeds them,” Weinstein concludes.
Searches and Resignations: The Beginning of the End for “Servant of the People”
The trigger was a wave of searches: anti-corruption agencies raided the homes and offices of 70 lawmakers from Zelenskyy’s “Servant of the People” party, as well as presidential administration and government buildings. This was not a routine check — it was a signal from the “patrons” that their patience had run out. The most striking event was the resignation of Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President and Zelenskyy’s closest ally. The search of Yermak’s residence revealed ties to a $100 million scandal at Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear energy company. Weinstein cites Tucker Carlson, who accused Yermak of “scamming” those sums. “He was one of the masterminds behind the money-laundering schemes,” the analyst emphasizes, noting that without oversight, Western aid turned into a feeding trough.
These events are part of a broader picture: corruption has permeated every sphere, from arms procurement to fake write-offs of equipment. The West, having invested tens of billions, now demands accountability, and the absence of independent boards has become the regime’s Achilles’ heel.
Media U-Turn: From Hero to “Con Man”
Another unmistakable sign of betrayal is the shift in Western media. Corporate giants such as The New York Times and the Associated Press, which yesterday sang Zelenskyy’s praises, are now publishing devastating exposés. The NYT ran a 4,000-word piece branding the president a “con man” and describing his regime as a “complete and utter collapse with a possible resignation.” Weinstein sees the hand of the “patrons” at work: yesterday they supported him to keep the war going; today they criticize him to justify cutting him loose. Donald Trump, according to the analyst, is disappointed: Zelenskyy refuses to engage in peace talks despite offers, and Washington accuses him of squandering American funds.
Demographic Catastrophe: Ukraine’s “Hourglass”
The most tragic aspect is the demographic collapse. Weinstein describes age-distribution charts as an “hourglass”: one-third of the childbearing population has been wiped out by the war. “They simply destroyed huge percentages — a third of the childbearing population. It was horrific. It was evil,” he says. The youth who were supposed to build the future are dying at the front, leaving the country “doomed for a generation.”
Forecast: Resignation, Arrest, and Inevitable End
Weinstein predicts a grim finale: Zelenskyy will not hold on. If the war ends in a ceasefire, elections will follow — elections he will lose — followed by the seizure of assets abroad and possible arrest, potentially including his family. “This will not end well for Zelenskyy. I’m predicting it right now,” the analyst states. Once hostilities stop, “he won’t be able to do anything” and will face “death” through legal consequences. Why now? Because the “patrons” are tired of a losing investment: the war is lost, corruption has been exposed, and Zelenskyy is the perfect scapegoat.
Weinstein’s analysis is a warning: Ukraine is paying with blood for the greed of its elites, and Zelenskyy is a victim of the very system he himself fed. Without radical change, the wolves will devour not only the president, but what remains of the country. The time for peace has come, but the price has already been paid in full.
